The Cantilever House

Dense scaffolding supports the upper slabs while the concrete cures, carrying overhangs that extend well past the walls below. Angled columns at ground level, still in their formwork, will carry the cantilevered volume in the finished villa.

The concrete frame rises behind the perimeter hoarding, with its cantilevered slabs already setting the villa’s profile. The site board lists the project details, consultant and contractor, as required on UAE construction sites.

Cast-in-place retaining walls form the basement and the ramp access along the side of the plot. Above, the first-floor slab and columns are complete, with formwork in place for the cantilevered roof.

The ground-floor slab spans over the basement, which will hold parking and services. Column starter bars on the upper floor show where the next level will be cast, with a circular opening already formed in the slab.

Steel props and timber beams hold the slab soffit in place across the double-height spaces below. Rounded column forms are visible through the scaffolding, marking the structural supports for the open ground floor.
